Ultra-lightweight Titanium Mufflers Save Significant Weight in Style

An exhaust system directs the gases out of the engine into the environment, while reducing the noise. These exhaust gases are hazardous to humans and environment, alike. Rigid Governmental norms concerning the emission levels play a critical role in monitoring & reducing pollution.

What Comprises a Cold-end Exhaust System?

An exhaust system includes piping & hangers and after-treatment devices. After-treatment devices include particulate filters & catalytic converters that help reduce poisonous emissions. Decoupling elements connect the exhaust parts with the remaining exhaust system, including mufflers, to reduce noise. Piping and after-treatment devices are referred to as “hot end.” Mufflers and tailpipes are known as “cold end” of the exhaust system.

The Titanium Muffler Exhaust System

Agency Power Industries LLC, an Arizona-based company, manufactures parts for cars ranging from Ferrari, Nissan, Porsche, BMW, to name a few. Agency Power has developed a full titanium exhaust system for Porsche 996 Turbo (2001-2005). These exhausts systems, from high flow 200cell cats to the quad tips, are made from ultra-lightweight titanium. The entire exhaust system weighs nearly 16lbs. This titanium assembly gives Porsche Turbo a distinct and slightly higher sound. The power-weight ratio is accomplished due to the significant weight saving and the power it provides.

This exhaust system helps realize faster throttle response from a larger diameter piping, which frees the turbochargers. The system encompasses high flow cats and staggered quads.

The F-RT Turbo Dual Burnt Tip Muffler

Megan Racing, a California-based company’s F-RT muffler, was given an oval design instead of the canister-style universal muffler. These features are similar to the perforated-core design of the canister mufflers. The F-RT muffler has a mellow, but deeper tone, due to the increased amount of packing contained inside the muffler casing. This assembly line of offset inlet universal mufflers is meant for vehicles that require this type of design for bumper clearance. The F-RT mufflers sport silver chrome finish with dual-roll burnt tips. The mufflers can be reversed and installed as they contain logos on both sides.

Market Overview

According to Grand View Research, Inc., the cold-end exhaust system aftermarket is predicted to exceed USD 6 billion by 2025. The growth can be accredited to stringent government regulations, sophisticated technology incorporated in the exhaust systems, and rigid government regulations & emission norms.

Market Competitors

Flowmaster, Inc.; MagnaFlow; Bosal Group; and Calsonic Kansei Corporation are some of the leading competitors in the market. The competitors adopt modern ways of distribution, such as online catalogs and e-commerce to gain a competitive edge in the market.
